Like a lot of farm homes in Iowa, they sit in the middle of nowhere, expose to all of the elements Iowa’s weather can deliver. The house is over 100 years old. It is less than energy efficient and not so comfortable in the winter with drafts coming in around the windows and door openings, drafty floors, and the never ending call to the fuel company to keep the tank full.
Midwest Construction met with these homeowners at the Iowa State Fair and started the discussion with, They had their home resided 10 years ago and have experienced nothing but problems, siding blowing off, leaks around the windows and doors, and the siding faded within 5 years.
Midwest Construction’s crew worked with the homeowners to remove the builder’s grade vinyl siding and repaired all water damaged sheathing.
Next was the installation of ecoSmart Vinyl Replacement Windows (Great Lakes Windows). All soft or rotten window sills and casing were replaced, all window openings and wheel weight cavities where insulated with fiberglass, and all units sealed with silicone sealants.
Once the home was prepared to install the new insulated vinyl siding, the crews installed house wrap on all outer walls of the home and installed window/door tape around all openings to prevent water and air infiltration.
All of the windows and doors where trimmed out and soffit and fascias systems covered to create a truly maintenance free and energy efficient home.
American Classic Insulated Vinyl Siding and ecoSmart Widows carry lifetime warranties for your peace of mind and comfort.
