Midwest Construction’s longevity, products, and service make it a customer favorite in several aspects of home improvement. This year, the company took First Place in the “Siding” category of the Readers’ Choice Awards. It also received Runner-Up in “Remodeling Contractor” and “Window/Door Retailer,” plus Honorable Mention for “Gutter Sales and Installation.”

“We’d like to thank our past and current customers for voting for us and also thank our prospective customers for considering us,” says Paul Despenas, V.P of Marketing of Midwest Construction.

Our Father, Alex P. Despenas started the family business in 1958 in Mason City, Iowa. He came up with the company motto: “Quality Products, Quality Installation.” Now the company has showrooms and warehouses in both Mason City and Des Moines to serve the entire state.

“Because of that length of time, we’re very fortunate to have picked the best manufacturers years ago because of the features of their products,” Paul says. “And because they are the best products, customers get the best warranty.” Along with having the best labor in the industry, he says it adds up to “the Midwest Construction difference.”

The company employs 25 full-time workers, including a complete service department. “We make sure all our installers are certified in the products they install, and even our production managers are certified. So homeowners are assured the product is installed according to manufacturer’s specifications. Since we’re doing it right, the warranty we provide is a true warranty. If a product fails, we’ll be there. We won’t let the homeowner sit out in the cold.”

Midwest Construction features American Classic vinyl and Everlast polymeric siding, James Hardy fiber cement siding, and ecoSmart replacement windows from Great Lakes windows and Oasis All Season Sunrooms. It also specializes in patio and entrance doors, gutters and downspouts, and basically anything to do with exterior remodeling.

Over the years our company has won many prestigious awards from manufacturers, but Paul is particularly proud of receiving the Better Business Bureau Integrity Award for Fair and Ethical Business Practices in both 1999 and 2015.

Paul says, “We take each and every job seriously and with a passion. Whether it’s just one window or door or a big commercial job, it’s done with pride, with the best product and the best installation technique and the best service.”
