Midwest Construction’s installation crews just finished up a replacement window and siding project for these homeowners in Huxley, Iowa and it looks great!

The home was built in 1980 and the siding was a product called Masonite. Masonite siding was a popular siding material used from the 1960 through the middle of the 1990’s.

Masonite is a type of hardboard made of steam-cooked and pressure-molded wood fibers in a process patented by William H. Mason.

It was made of saw dust, glue and other wood fiber materials and if not maintained every year the product would start to soften and eventually rot right off the home.

Lon Cloud a Midwest Construction Sales Consultant met with the homeowners and  came up with some energy savings ideas to keep the home warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer.


Since the home was built in the 1980’s, Lon took extra time to check the exterior sills, casings, side walls and overhangs for soft or rotten areas, He took notes and covered with the homeowners so when it came time to write up the work order those areas would be inspected and replaced.

The window crew showed up first and replaced any rotten sills and casing if and were needed. All of the openings were insulated with fiberglass insulation and sealed with silicone sealant.

The siding crew removed all of the existing Masonite siding, inspected the exterior sheeting for rot and replaced if and where needed. All of the walls were covered with Grip-Tite House wrap. Green Guard window and door tape was installed around all openings to prevent any water or air infiltration.

Window and door casing were covered with custom bent PVC aluminum coil stock with brick mold pattern. American Classic Insulated siding installed on all walls of the home to give this home extra R-Value. All soffits and fascia board were covered to give this home a true maintenance freedom.

This job will receive a Lifetime Warranty on the window, parts including a unprecedented Lifetime seal failure and glass breakage warranty.

American Classic Lifetime Warranty including Lifetime Non-Fade Protection and since the siding is laminated by Progressive Foam it includes a Lifetime Warranty on de-lamination and thermal performance.
