Midwest Construction teams up with Habitat for Humanity of North Central Iowa to do our part.
What is our part? Midwest Construction started in business in 1958 in Mason City, Iowa by Alex P. Despenas, his focus, remodeling the exteriors of homes.
For many years Midwest Construction has been partnering up with the Habitat for Humanity in some way or another, installing windows and siding on new builds, or renovating an older home in Rock the Block Programs, or donating windows and left over siding and building materials.

In the past most, of the work has been done in the Des Moines metropolitan area but this year, I, Paul , picked up the phone and called the Habitat for Humanity of North Central Iowa and asked to help.Mellissa Schoenberg with the Habitat was excited to hear from me and we discussed the possibilities. Sometime in April I received the plans for the home and we right to work with our manufacturer: Great Lakes Windows/Ply Gem Corporation. They were happy to help us out by donating the best products they manufacturer EcoSmart Windows.
Ply Gem also has a National Program going on called, Home for Good with Darius Rucker as the National Spokesperson supporting the Habitat for Humanity across the country by donating over 1 Million Dollars of building materials and partnering up with Habitat for Humanity (named Most-Trusted, Most Loved and nonprofit Brand-of-the-year in 2016 Harris Poll) to build hundreds of homes with families in need of affordable housing.
Midwest Construction installed EcoSmart Vinyl windows with Energy Guard Insulated Glass and a multi-point locking system for their safety. Fold down casement handles along with easy clean hardware make these windows as easy to clean as they are to operate. EcoSmart windows are designed to save energy and come with a Lifetime warranty on the master frame, sash frame, all moving parts, and it also includes a Lifetime Seal Failure and Glass Breakage Warranty.
The windows were installed on Thursday, August 31, by one of Midwest Construction window crew’s Sean and Dan, along with Paul and Jim our service manager from the Des Moines office. Hats off to Mike Haggerty our Great Lakes Window Factory Representative, for taking his time and driving in from Kansas City to help!
