The home was built in 1972 and the contractor used what was available and popular at the time. The siding product was made out of sawdust and glue with a hard wood fiber finish. If this type of siding was not maintained yearly, the product would fail quickly. These homeowners took the time to do the yearly maintenance on their home but it wouldn’t hold paint anymore. It was time to look for new siding.

Chad Arndt, Senior Design Consultant from Midwest Construction’s Mason City, Iowa location, met with these homeowners to discuss new siding for their home. These homeowners had some concerns. They were worried there may be some rotten sheeting under the old siding and wanted to make sure we would not cover up any soft or rotten wood.  The other company they received a bid from was going to install siding over the old siding and these homeowners were not comfortable with that decision.

Chad went outside and inspected and measured each wall. He confirmed there were a couple of areas of concern. Chad took the time to explain to these homeowners to actual procedures our installers will use during the install. Chad also explained to the homeowners after we remove your existing siding and brick facade, if our crews find soft or rotten sheeting, they will take a photo of the bad sheeting, replace the bad sheeting and then take a photo of the new sheeting. Midwest Construction has an hourly rate for these necessary repairs. The actual material bill for those repairs has no mark up on the materials.
