Preparing the home’s exterior walls for new insulated vinyl siding.

The best time to re-insulate your home’s exterior walls is when you are residing your home.

If your home was built before 2008, chances are the exterior walls had the bare minimum of protection from wind and air infiltration. Most home builders use builders grade hollow back vinyl siding and house wrap and called it good.

Not Midwest Construction. We remove the existing siding from the home, one wall at a time and have a dumpster or dump trailer on site so it can be hauled away. Once the old siding is off the wall, our VSI certified crews will inspect the exterior sheeting for soft or rotten areas. If those areas are found, now is the time to make those repairs.

Next step, wrap all exterior walls of the home with Grip-Tite House Wrap/Vapor Barrier. House Wrap stops wind infiltration from the outside to the inside, and also provides moisture protection/water permeability from your interior of your home out.

         

Once the walls are all wrapped and taped off the next procedure is to install Green Guard Window/Door Tape around all openings on the home. The tape is applied with part of the tape along the side of the window trim, and flat against the exterior wall to provide a water/air tight opening. No water or air infiltration from the outside in.

      

Now that the walls are properly prepared the siding is applied. Window and doors trimmed out and the soffit and fascia's are covered to give these homeowners a properly insulated home to save energy for the lifetime of the home.
