Mason City Youth Hockey Announces Founding Partner of Mason City Arena

Mason City, IA – Mason City Youth Hockey, in partnership with the North Iowa Bulls, the City of Mason City, and Mason City Parks and Recreation, is proud to announce Midwest Construction as the newest Founding Partner of the Mason City Arena.

Midwest Construction has been a longtime supporter of the Mason City Youth Hockey program. It has truly been a family affair. In early 1970’s, Paul Despenas was involved in the very first hockey program in Mason City and played through high school. “As an owner, I am happy to say On behalf of Midwest Construction and my Family Partners, we are very proud to be a part of this program.”

Midwest Construction got involved in the Mascon City youth hockey program in 1987. Paul became a youth coach to help all his nephews learn the game and the values taught. Paul’s nephew Zane Kantaris grew up in the MCYH and Junior Husky Hockey Program. He won a state championship with the Mohawks and played for the North Iowa Huskies while they were in the USHL. “Zane: I learned so many valuable lessons that I bring to work daily in my position and implement daily as production manager and owner. Today I have the pleasure of watching my  kids participation in the mc youth hockey program and the Mason City Mohawk Hockey Program

Matching Value for Midwest Constructions Values:

Midwest Construction’s passion for hockey aligns with the program’s goal of growing youth hockey across northern Iowa. To make Mason City Youth Hockey a more inclusive organization, Midwest Construction, in collaboration with Christie Doors Store, has purchased over 30 starter equipment sets for the Learn to Play Program.

Hockey is a unique sport that requires a blend of heart, skill that is continually developed attitude passion, and team work. These are just the things that are the bedrock of Midwest Construction’s philosophy and beliefs.

There will be a short celebratory event at Mason City Arena on Wednesday, September 29 at 6 p.m. to honor Midwest Construction for their generous partnership. The public is welcome to attend or watch live on Mason City Youth Hockey’s Facebook page.
